International Ballet Pianist Symposium

ABOUT

THE ART OF BALLET ACCOMPANIMENT

About the Symposium

A ballet pianist must anticipate movement before it happens, shape musical phrasing around choreography, communicate seamlessly with teachers and dancers, and adapt instantly to an ever-changing studio environment. The Ballet Pianist Symposium offers a rare opportunity to study this specialized art form in an intensive, collaborative setting.

Over two immersive days, participants explore every aspect of professional ballet accompaniment—from understanding class structure and musical architecture to accompanying choreography, adapting repertoire in real time, and developing the skills required for today's professional ballet studios.

Combining lectures, observation, interactive workshops, live accompaniment, and practical application with dancers, the symposium provides an unparalleled insight into the artistic partnership between pianist, teacher, and dancer.

Whether you are looking to transition into ballet accompaniment or refine your existing practice, the symposium offers practical tools, professional guidance, and an inspiring community of musicians passionate about dance.
